bumblebee..bumblebee...bumblebebe...
"At night I would lie in bed and watch the show, how bees squeezed through the cracks of my bedroom wall and flew circles around the room, making that propeller sound... I watched their wings shining like bits of chrome in the dark and felt the longing build in my chest. The way those bees flew, not even looking for a flower, just flying for the feel of the wind, split my heart down its seam." from The Secret Life of Bees (2002)

By Lewis Carroll
(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe
Which poem are you? Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll Oh, you're silly! People probably think you're a bit kooky, but those nuts just don't realize that you've got a language all your own. But hey, you always bring a smile to people's faces. |

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoot off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist, nor you
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep."
I wonder if the moon shone bright
From "100 Love Sonnets Cien sonetos de amor"
Translated by Stephen Tapscott

You will cook for me tonight, you said.
Pasta?
Mmmm… (a la Maricel Laxa) :)
I noticed that lately, you always want to fix something to satisfy our palate.
I’m a better cook, I know.
Let’s just say that you’re more creative. ;)
yes...that old woman...
it's a day after we met her.
i wonder how she is now...
it's raining, and i can't imagine where she is taking shelter.
is she still walking along the streets, waiting for someone to understand her situation.
does she notice the rain?
or is she too preoccupied with other problems that
the rain drenching her is the least of her concerns...
who approached us this morning at kalayaan
and asked for a few coins,
is in my mind.
no less than a minute
had she disrupted us
in starting our day's business
but she managed to tell us
about her grandchildren who would also enjoy
possibilities from your twenty-peso bill.
she walked away with her fortune
with one hand at her lowerback.
when i asked you to also give her my twenty-peso bill,
i was just too afraid to think how it would make any difference.
the sun is starting to fade now,
and the old woman is in my mind.
i love the idea.
this joint blog reminds me of how we worked together in composing PDD's "open letter" a few years ago. whenever i remember that letter's contents and the style with which it was written, i can't help but feel proud. maybe, the sense of pride comes not only from the way the letter was written, but the story behind it.
empowerment in action!
looking forward to more collaborations with you. ;)
dearest rich,
welcome to our blog. had sudden inspiration of creating our web-based notebook -- wala lang, baka pumatok. do you like the qoutation? love it. you must read the book na.
by the way, originally, this is what i put in the description:
two women's
tete-a-tete,
love and life notes
exchange.
but then, this could really be about anything. besides, the description may not necessarily be about the blog (only) but also about the bloggers. so there. blog na ha :)
